Annual General Meeting

On Tuesday, June 20, the Ottawa Arts Council held its Annual General Meeting to review the previous year with our membership. Due to the ongoing renovation work at Arts Court, the Council took the opportunity to hold the meeting offsite at the Armada Lounge at the Brig Pub on York Street.

L'assemblé généralFollowing a brief welcome from Board Chair Julia Johnston, Marie Fraser, Partner at Hendry Warren LLP, presented the audited financial statements. Showing the Council to be in a solid financial position, acceptance of the audited financial statement passed without issue and the meeting moved on to a review of activities from the previous year.

Executive Director Peter Honeywell, Communications and Outreach Officer Stéphane Lauzon, and Development Officer Sharon Diamond presented activity reports from the work that took place during the previous year. These reports echoed the Annual Report, which can be downloaded here. It was also noted that this year’s Annual Report took on a new format and included more statistics to highlight the reach and impact of the work the Council does.

Departing board members Ashley Proulx and Joanne Rycaj Guillemette were thanked for their many contributions to the Council, and seven board members were elected. Elected for a two year term were returning board members Stephanie Chong, Julia Johnston, Mark Kowalski, and Nicole Milne; and new to the board are Georgette Houle and Natalie MacLellan. New member Toni Van Eeden was elected for a one-year term to fill a vacancy, bringing the Council Board to its full complement of twelve members.

Following the formal meeting, guests were invited to stay and mingle as hors d’oeuvres and the Council’s 35th anniversary cake was served.
