Jon Bartlett to be honoured with the Victor Tolgesy Arts Award

On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, the Ottawa Arts Council will honour founder, director and promoter, Jon Bartlett, with the Victor Tolgesy Arts Award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Ottawa arts community.

Jon Bartlett is the founder of Kelp Music, champion of local music in the National Capital Region, as well as the founder and director of MEGAPHONO, an organization that seeks to build the National Capital’s music industry. Jon has overseen four editions of the annual MEGAPHONO Music Showcase Festival, which has grown to host over 70 showcasing artists and 50 international music industry delegates for three days of showcases, seminars, and networking events across the region each February.

He is the Vice President of the Board of Directors at OMIC (Ottawa Music Industry Coalition), an organization focused on helping build music industry capacity in Ottawa, and providing professional development and showcasing opportunities to artists and artist entrepreneurs. 

Bartlett is also a prolific panelist speaker and he serves on the OMDC’s Music Industry Advisory Committee and the City of Ottawa’s Ottawa Music Industry Development Working Group. He has served on the Board of Directors of CIMA (Canadian Independent Music Association), as well as acting as MusicOntario’s CIMA Board Advisor.
