Awards Jury

We accept applications to the awards jury on an ongoing basis. However, only applications received prior to the cutoff date will be considered for the upcoming year.

While we accept applications for jury on an ongoing basis, applications for the 2020 award jury has closed.

However, we invite you to submit your application for future awards juries.

The Ottawa Arts Council is engaged in creating a more transparent and representational adjudication process for our Awards program that reflects the diversity and breadth of our arts community and hopes to accomplish this by expanding our jury pool. As such, the Ottawa Arts Council is calling for applications of interest from across Ottawa’s arts professionals.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be an adult over the age of 18.
  • Be a professional artist in any discipline at any career stage.
  • Reside in the National Capital Region (defined as 75 km from Parliament Hill) who practices their art in Ottawa.
  • Demonstrate your involvement in the Ottawa arts community.

What considerations do selected jurors receive?

  • An honorarium for their participation.
  • Two tickets to attend the Awards Presentation Evening.

What are the responsibilities of the selected jurors?

  • To collectively reflect the pool of applicants’ diversity of gender identity, age, career stage and cultural diversity.
  • To provide their expertise in the adjudication of the Awards program.
  • To keep their participation confidential until the Awards Presentation.
  • Selected jurors are not eligible to apply, nominate, support, or otherwise participate in the Ottawa Arts Council Awards program during their term.
  • To comply with the Ottawa Arts Council Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Important Dates

  • Jury call for application closes: November 16, 2019
  • Notification of jury selection: December 2019
  • Awards Presentation: TBD, spring 2020
